Finding Meaning Beneath the Weight of Depression

Depression doesn’t come out of nowhere. It often develops over time, shaped by early experiences, relationships, losses, and the ways you learned to cope long before you walked into my office. In depression therapy, we allow space for reflection and look beneath the symptoms to understand what your depression is responding to. Together, we explore how your history, emotional world, and relationships shape the way you feel today — so healing can happen at the root, not just at the surface.
When Things Begin to Feel Different
Depression often shows up quietly, gradually changing how you experience yourself and the world. These struggles aren’t personal failures — they’re signals that something meaningful needs attention and care. In therapy, we look at what’s underneath these experiences so you can move forward with clarity, compassion, and a renewed sense of self.
Persistent sadness, emptiness, or emotional numbness
Loss of motivation or interest in things that once mattered
Feeling exhausted, weighed down, or emotionally drained
Harsh self-criticism, guilt, or shame
Difficulty connecting to others or to yourself
Onnie’s Approach
Depression doesn’t appear suddenly — it often grows out of lived experiences, relationships, and emotional histories that deserve to be understood. Depression often reflects what has been carried, suppressed, or left unspoken over time.
My work is to help you understand where your depression comes from, how it has shaped your inner world, and how it continues to influence the way you relate to yourself and others. This process involves looking inward — and also understanding how your environment and relationships have impacted you.
Healing doesn’t come from me. It comes from within you.
My role is to guide you, offer insight, and help you understand yourself more deeply so change becomes possible.
