Depression Therapy

Understanding the Roots of Depression

Depression doesn’t appear out of nowhere. It often develops in response to long-standing emotional patterns, early experiences, losses, or ways you learned to survive and adapt. In depression therapy, we slow things down and look beyond symptoms to understand what your depression is trying to communicate. Together, we explore how your history, relationships, and inner world shape the way you feel today — so that healing can happen at a deeper level, not just through symptom management.

Signs It May Be Time for Support

People often seek depression therapy when they’re experiencing:

E

Persistent sadness, emptiness, or numbness

E

Loss of interest or pleasure in things that once mattered

E

Low energy, motivation, or emotional exhaustion

E

Feelings of guilt, shame, or self-criticism

E

Difficulty connecting to others or to themselves

These experiences are not personal failures. They are meaningful emotional responses that deserve care and understanding.

Onnie’s Approach

I view depression through a relational lens — meaning we explore not only how you feel, but why these feelings developed over time. Depression often reflects unprocessed experiences, unmet emotional needs, or patterns learned in early relationships.

My work is to help you understand the roots of your depression, how it has shaped your inner world, and how it continues to influence your relationships and sense of self.

Healing doesn’t come from me. It comes from you. My role is to guide, support, and help you understand yourself more deeply so that change becomes possible.

This doesn’t have to be the way things always feel.

What Depression Therapy Looks Like

Depression therapy is not about forcing positivity or pushing through pain. It’s about understanding, compassion, and creating safety for emotions that may have been ignored or misunderstood. Depression can make it feel like nothing will change — but with time, support, and understanding, new possibilities can emerge. Therapy offers a space to look beneath the surface, reflect, and begin loosening the patterns that keep you feeling stuck.
